Last December on that bright, warm, sunny Christmas day I had no idea that I was about to receive the most precious Christmas gift ever. That morning I went to the market with a friend to buy the supplies we needed for the Mission Christmas party later that evening. While we were busy buying beans, a gentleman walks up and introduces himself. My friend already knew him because they had grow up together. He was a nice man, spoke English very well and had a beautiful big smile. We chit-chatted for a little bit but then one of the ladies in the market called me over to talk to her, I could tell he was very surprised at how much Creole I spoke. He then had to leave and I continued shopping.
My friend and I were only in the market for a few more minutes finishing up with the rest of the stuff needed for the party. But we then had to go to the gas station to buy some ice for the party. When I walked in the door I was surprised to see the same gentleman I had just met! I felt a little awkward since I had just seen him ten minutes before. He invited me to sit with him, so we talked while my friend got the ice. It was a fun conversation, but since I meet so many new people all the time I didn't think too much of the situation.
On New Years Eve I was praying and thanking God for everything he had done in my life and my ministry in Haiti in year 2012 and was praying for the coming year of 2013. Suddenly in my heart I heard “2013 is the year you find your husband.” It was so random that I wasn't sure if I had made the thought up or if God had really spoken it to me. I wasn't sure about it and I didn't even write it down in my journal.
A Week later, the man I had met in the market messaged me on facebook asking if we could talk sometime. He had been working with a YWAM ministry in a place where there was no internet and now he was at another town far in the mountains helping to build rain catchment water tanks for the communities up there. We started talking and next thing I knew we had talked for 3 hours! I was surprised at how comfortable I already felt talking to him. Later that week, one night after I finished skyping with him I then laid in bed and heard in my heart “2013 is the year you find your husband.” I knew it was real this time...God was speaking...and I knew that He was saying this man is the one.
God continued to confirm our relationship in so many amazing ways. One day Philipson's mom was in the same town as me but she had no idea who I was or that I was even talking to her son. As she stood next to the road I went by on a motorcycle on my way to the Mission. As she saw me pass, a wave of emotion hit her and a voice said, “that is Philipson's future wife.” She immediately called Philipson and said, “I just saw your future wife!”
In February we officially started dating, but we both already knew that this was it. We knew that God was the one who had brought us together to form this beautiful love story. In April Philipson came back to Haiti a week early to surprise me after spending over a month in the Dominican Republic doing ministry. To make the surprise better, him and one of my best friends Bree had worked together to plan a huge surprise of bringing my father to Haiti for the first time! Having my boyfriend and my father surprise me on the same day was the greatest day of surprises ever! Little did I know that an even bigger surprise was to come later.
The day before my dad was going to leave Haiti, Philipson said we should take him to the place where we had officially began our relationship. We went to the beach and Philipson said we should go out on the dock to take some pictures. He then got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him as his wife, and I said YES!!
I am so immensely blessed to be able to spend the rest of my life with such a Godly man who has a deep heart for spreading God's Kingdom in Haiti and who most of all...loves me unconditionally. Philipson and I will be getting married on August 10th, 2013 at a beautiful beach front property here in Montrouis, Haiti. Please be praying for us as we make plans for the wedding, prepare a house and make plans for our future life together. Also, please be praying for us as we are in big need of a vehicle. We are excited for this new chapter of our love story and we invite you to be a part of it by being a source of encouragement, accountability, support and prayer. God is so faithful and I praise His name for bringing me such a precious gift in Philipson. It is a wonderful, indescribable blessing to be swept up in the flow of Love.
