I wanted to give you all a quick update on my DTS outreach. We all had a wonderful 2 weeks doing ministry at an orphanage in Goniaves. The children, staff and directer are absolutely amazing, God loving people. I was so blessed to be there and I can't wait to go visit again!
On our way to our 2nd destination of Gran Roc we actually had some car troubles but we were praying, hoping and pushing through that we could make it to Gran Roc. As we pulled into the gas station all of a sudden we had smoke coming into the car and we all ran out as fast as we could. There were already flames underneath the car. Everybody got out safely praise the Lord!! It was actually amazing to see all the Haitian men come around and start helping to put out the fire. They were pushing the van, getting water, dirt and anything else that would help. The van was parked and they were concerned about it being by the gas pump so they spent much time trying to push the van out of the way. A few men tried to get out a few bags and random things they could easily grab but the car quickly became covered in flames. We all stood there in shock as we watched all of our stuff burn up.
Thankfully my backpack was saved which had my bible and journal, ect.. but I lost my entire other bag with all my clothes, ect and Philipson's guitar. Some people on the team lost everything they had. Despite the loss of all our stuff, equipment, and supplies we remembered that it is just stuff. We all got together and prayed, thanked the Lord and Praised Him for his continual faithfulness and protection.
It is a blessing we were all saved and no one was hurt. It was a blessing we were in an area where the fire from the car could not spread easily to other areas or homes. It was a blessing to see the Haitians jump into action to help people they didn't know...even to the point of risking their own lives. But most of all we realize the blessing in this being a powerful testimony for God to use in Gran Roc. We know that this is spiritual warfare and that the enemy is trying to prevent us from reaching our destination and bringing God's Kingdom into a place where he thinks he as control. But no matter what we are still going. We are not backing down. We are ready to step out in God's power and see His mighty hand move in big ways!
Please hold us in your prayers as we step out for battle but also please join us in declaring the VICTORY that we already have in Christ!!! Our team is leaving this afternoon to go into Gran Roc and we could not be more excited and expectant for the powerful things God has in store for us and the people of Gran Roc.
Blessings and love to all of you!
