Ever since we returned from the Justice DTS outreach in Haiti, we have been here at the YWAM Ships Kona base continuing to be equipped to launch a new YWAM base next year in Haiti! During our time here we have been meeting , praying with and learning from the YWAM Ships directors Brett and Karen Curtis. The exciting news is that God has strongly placed us on their hearts and they want to take us under their wings to help launch the base in Haiti!
During our time here God has been speaking to us a lot about the base and ministry we are to have in Haiti. In prayer one morning Philipson saw this picture of a boat with the name “Freedom” written on it. He heard God say that just as the Africans were brought on ships to Haiti to be slaves, God will use ships to take the Haitian people all over the world to bring freedom. We see now even more clearly why God has brought us here to the YWAM Ships base here in Kona, Hawaii and we now feel confirmation that God wants to launch YWAM Ships in Haiti! We know that ships are something we both know very little about, but we also know that God calls us to do things that are beyond our own ability so that we trust in Him to make it happen. What a privilege it will be to see what was once used for slavery become redeemed to now be a vessel of freedom!
Currently at YWAM Ships we are working in different departments on the base gaining experience on how those departments operate. Philipson is in the Communications department learning how to make promotional videos and is currently working on a video from the Justice Discipleship Training School we did last January. He is doing a really great job and we'll be sure to share the video soon!
Philipson and I have also been involved in some of the leadership meetings and getting to see more of the “behind the scenes” of leading a YWAM base. We even got to be a part of a 2 day seminar on Crisis management and how to be well prepared for many different types of crisis. It was a really great seminar and really helpful to show us what we need to set in place in order to handle a crisis.
The past few weeks have been particularly awesome because Philipson and I have been doing the “School of Leadership and Ministry Development” seminar (SLAMD)for this whole month of August. Everyday has been a new speaker coming in and sharing on a topic of leadership.
After the tour we'll be coming back to start preparing to lead the next January Justice DTS again! We are really excited to have more opportunities to disciple youth and we are even more excited to have those who will be going to Haiti with us as staff of theJustice DTS too! It will be a great time of us as a team working together, learning more about each other and seeing each of us operate in ministry. It's going to be quite a fun time!
If you might be interested in learning more about the Justice Discipleship Training School for this January check out the website or feel free to contact us and we would love to share with you more about it!
This October when we are in California we are wanting to travel to multiple cities visiting friends and churches. We are praying that someone will be able to lend us a car during these few weeks so that we can easily travel form one place to the next. If you or anyone you know might be able to help us in this way, please contact us
On August 10th we had the pleasure of celebrating our 2nd year wedding anniversary!! We had a friend who got us a sweet deal on a dinner cruise and we had a lovely, romantic dinner on the ship at sunset! We are so grateful for 2 years of marriage filled with beautiful moments, awesome adventures and sweet blessings! Can't imagine spending life with anyone else!
