We will be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas in Colorado with my family. Which I could not be more excited about!! The beginning of November we will be in California and then sometime in December we hope to travel to Texas to visit Philipson's older brother Peterson and then maybe Pennsylvania too.
We will be leaving Haiti on October 31st and fly into Sacramento, California for a friend's wedding on November 1st. Since we will already be in California we have decided to stay a bit longer and do a road trip down the California coast visiting all our friends and family. We will be visiting Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, Lemoore, Santa Barbara, Ventura, LA and Escondido. Our biggest prayer right now is that we can find someone who is willing to let us barrow their car for a few weeks. We do not have enough finances to rent a car, so if you or anyone you know is willing to lend us theirs please let us know as soon as possible!
If you live in any of the places we'll be traveling to, and would like to meet up with us please let us know. We will try out best to see everyone we can. We are also hoping that during our time in the States we can share our story, experiences and vision with different churches, small groups, businesses or anyone that is interested. Please let us know if you would like to have us come speak and share with your group!
And now for the surprise!
Philipson and I have been invited by our good friend Sean Murphy, who is one of the head Discipleship Training School (DTS) leaders in the YWAM Kona, Hawaii base, to come and co-lead a DTS with him in Kona. My husband and I have been praying about this opportunity a lot and God has been confirming to us that we should be a part of this DTS. Our goal is to help lead the DTS for the three months of lecture and class phase, and then to lead the team to Haiti for their two month outreach phase. Our prayer is that through this time God will begin to give them a passion for Haiti and that they will feel called to come be a part of our team to pioneer a YWAM base in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti.
The YWAM Kona base was originally started by Lauren Cunningham the founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM). We are excited to take advantage of the time with the DTS and to also connect with leaders and learn more of how a YWAM base operates outside of Haiti. We are also looking forward to being under Sean's leadership and learn from his wisdom and experience of many years with YWAM. We believe this is a great opportunity for both Philipson and I to grow personally as well as start the first step of God putting together the YWAM Port-Au-Prince team.
We will be leaving from Colorado to go to Kona for the months of January through March. Then at beginning of April we will be flying with the DTS team to Haiti for their 2 months of outreach. For staff fees, rent, transportation, food, outreach costs, and flights to Kona and then back to Haiti, we need a total of $9,000 ($4,500 each). We know this is a big step for us but we believe that God has called us to do this. We would like to invite you to stand with us and help us move forward to take this next step. All we need is for 18 people to give $100 per month. To give a tax-deductible donation online or by check, please click here to go to our donation page.
We want to thank everyone who has already been helping to make this trip possible, whether through prayers or finances, it has definitely made a difference! We feel so blessed to be able to take this time to go to the States to reconnect with family and friends and also to meet new ones. We know this will be a sweat time of refreshment, learning and opportunity. We invite you to follow us on this adventure as we see what God has in store for us and the future YWAM base of Port-Au-Prince!
